How our skin's natural moisturizing function works
Healthy skin stays moist because of natural oils, called lipids, which are naturally produced
by the body. These keep skin soft and supple, and help prevent moisture from evaporating
from the skin's surface. These essential lipids surround layers of proteins, and both are
enclosed in a protective double membrane. This layered arrangement is known as a lamellar structure, and the protective membrane is called the lipid barrier. The lipid barrier holds moisture and lipids in, and keeps harmful substances out. If this membrane is damaged in any way, both lipids and moisture can be lost, and skin can become dry, rough, itchy, red or even cracked.

IMPRŪV Cream replenishes the natural lipids with plant-based lipids similar to those found in your skin. These lipids allow IMPRŪV Cream's active ingredients to easily penetrate into the deepest layers of the skin, soothing it and restoring its natural moisture balance.
