Footcare Program
Preventive Measures
Overall Health and Routine
Check your feet every day for blisters, cuts, scratches and nail problems. Use a mirror to see the bottom of your feet.
Hygiene
Wash your feet daily using lukewarm water with a mild soap or antibacterial cleanser. By reducing the bacteria count, you will minimize the risk of infection.
Comfort
Always dry your feet thoroughly, especially in between your toes. This is important to prevent development of breaks in the skin as this can lead to fungal infection.
Always wear comfortable shoes. If you purchase a new pair of shoes, wear them for short periods of time only, until they are broken in.
Always cut toenails horizontally. The nail should be cut so that it is even with the end of your toe. Do not cut into the corners. Use an emery board or nail file for sharp edges.
