"Choose what you intend to do and do it well".

Johann David Stiefel,
Founder of Stiefel Laboratories, 1847

Building on 160 years of innovation, Stiefel has become a true multinational partner with health care professionals around the globe, and a leading force in dermatology.

Stiefel began making candles and household soaps, in Offenbach-am-Main in 1847. The founder, Johann David Stiefel, changed the company's focus to medicinal soaps when dermatologists found soap to be an ideal delivery system for many of the medications then in use.

Now established in Coral Gables, Florida, the Stiefel group currently comprises of 36 subsidiaries including seven manufacturing plants in six countries and three R & D facilities on three continents. Additionally, independent agents representing Stiefel Laboratories and its products can be found in over 70 countries.

Winley-Morris introduced Stiefel's products to the Canadian market in 1956. Richard J. MacKay joined Winley-Morris in 1962, and this native Montrealer became the driving force behind the opening of the Canadian division of Stiefel in 1976, and continues to lead Stiefel Canada's success to this day.

As a result of the May 1996 acquisition of Trans CanaDerm inc., and the ongoing introduction of new products, Stiefel Canada Inc. is now the leading dermatology company in Canada.
